The Challenge

OMD UK and OMD EMEA are part of Omnicom and one of the largest media agency networks in the world. Simpatico PR has worked with OMD on a range of briefs including corporate profile building for OMD EMEA and thought leadership programmes for its OMD UK agency.

For example: The Future of Britain, a year-long research initiative exploring the attitudes and changing behaviour within British society in the wake of the longest economic slump in 70 years.

For the first phase of the project, our challenge was to develop research that would be both insightful for brands and of interest to a wider business and consumer audience.

The Solution

Working in partnership with OMD UK's insight team and MMR Research Worldwide; we developed research that would create multiple PR story angles covering politics, shopping, consumer lifestyles and attitudes towards international and domestic issues.

Once the research results came back we developed editorial content that could be used to achieve PR exposure and through owned social media channels.

The Results

The first round of research has established OMD UK as a leading source of insight on the impact of the economy on consumer behaviour. The study was reported by eight national newspapers, BBC Radio and more than 20 business titles. Editorial analysis of the results has been streamed via a dedicated OMD UK Future of Britain blog and social media feeds.

For OMD EMEA, Simpatico PR has worked on building the profiles of senior business leaders. To achieve this Simpatico PR focused on developing and implementing a thought leadership programme around key industry issues across the EMEA region.

This covered business trends, new technology, mobile and data usage, and their impact on brands across the region. We also leveraged OMD EMEA's participation at major industry events like dmexco and Advertising Week Europe, which was amplified across social media, as well as providing on-the-ground media support. Simpatico PR also implemented a proactive profile-building programme for the President of the agency.

22 pieces of coverage achieved in key business media, including Business Insider, BA Business Life and City AM; national media, including The Huffington Post; and trade targets, including Campaign, The Drum and M&M Global. Simpatico PR has built relationships for OMD EMEA with key target media, such as BBC Business Live and The Guardian, helping to ensure the agency becomes the go-to for spokespeople on marketing, tech and business issues.
